Spring 2011 Knitting Magazines

Hello again everyone!  I have returned!  Woo Hoo!  Alert the media! :D
Life is still a little crazy, but I'm hanging in there.  Just taking it one day at a time.  Thanks for being patient.

A couple weeks ago, I stopped by Barnes and Noble, and I just happened to have my camera with me.  So, I decided to settle in for a few hours to review plus size patterns in all the latest knitting magazines.

I was pleased to find some really nice patterns this time, and some great size ranges as well.

Here's the winner of the season:

The Fleurette Camisole has instructions up to a 59 inch chest, and the design is lovely.

The Lace Pullover is oversized, which is 67 inches at the chest.
I'm not sure how it would look on a plus-sized frame, though.


The Lace Panel Pullover goes up to a 57 inch chest.


The Stripe Tunic and Cowl goes up to a 54 inch chest


And the pretty Lace Back Top also goes up to a 54 inch chest


The March 2012 issue of Creative Knitting has some nice plus size patterns this time.


The Capetown Tunic goes up to 3X


Akiko's Kimono goes to size 3X


Azteca goes to 3X as well


Another 3X design is the Textured Vest, which has an unusual high back


Our next magazine review is Knit 'n Style - April 2012


The Button Up Set goes to a 58 inch chest


The Daisies Tank goes to a 55 inch chest


The Get Cabled Shrug goes to a 52 inch chest


And the Winter Sky Pullover also goes to a 52 inch chest


The Knitter's Magazine - K105 is obviously a Winter magazine, but it's still on the shelf. I found a couple interesting plus size patterns in there.

Ruffles & Purls goes to a 54 inch chest


and Night Moods also has a 54 inch chest



Australian Knitting - Vol 3 - No 4 Spring 2012
has a nice Family Cardi pattern that goes up to a 137 centimeter chest (about 54 inches)


Knit (UK) - Issue 46 (Nordic Issue)
has a beautiful design called Cornflower Raglan that goes to a 53.5 inch chest



YARN (Australian) - Vol 11- Issue 24
has a very feminine, lacy design by Annie Modesitt called Lace Top, which goes up to a 52 inch chest



Last, but not least is the Spring 2012 issue of Interweave Knits


The Agua Rios Vest goes to a 54.5 inch chest


The Manteo Cardigan goes up to a 54 inch chest


The Cobble Hill Pullover goes to a 53.5 inch chest


Finally, the Peony Cardigan also goes to a 53.5 inch chest


There were some other designs that were a bit smaller than those I've listed in this blog post, but I decided to stick with the larger ones this time.

A short apology to my friends

Hi everyone!  So sorry I never finished my Fall 2011 report.

Life has thrown a curve ball at me, and I'm dealing with some stress at home.  (Husband moved out)

So.....I promise to try to get back on track soon with more fun Plus Size Patterns for us.

Just wanted you all to know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

Fall 2011 Knitting Mags - Part TWO

Here's another report on Fall 2011 Knitting Magazines.  So many plus size patterns this time, that I had to break it all up into several posts! :)

Let's start this time with two patterns for MEN! 

From the magazine called "Australian Knitting" Vol 3/No 2 (Winter)


The "Man's V-Neck Jumper" fits up to a 53 inch chest. Cool!
(Sorry - didn't get a photo of that one)

And in "KNIT" Issue 41 - Oct 2011


The "Sherwood Jumper" fits a 53 inch chest as well.

Interesting cables, and a nice neckline as well!

In that same magazine (KNIT), you'll find a ladies "Oceania Skirt", which fits up to a 53" hip.




Next, are three plus size jacket patterns from Interweave Knits (Fall 2011):



The Solstice Jacket fits up to a 53" chest.  Very pretty!



The Honeycomb Jacket goes up to 52"



The Angel Fire Jacket goes to 52"
(plus one quarter of an inch....What is that - two stitches? Ha!)



Knitscene (Fall 2011)



has the Bernhardt Cardigan, which goes to 52 inches.

Fall 2011 Knitting Mags - Part ONE

OK, I know I'm late.....so let's get this show on the road.  I need to post my report on Plus Size Knitting Patterns from Fall 2011 magazines while they are still on the shelf!!  ACK!

I'm gonna start off by showing the largest patterns I found, after my 4 hour magazine perusal.

Sandra Knit Trends - No. 3

This issue contains a knitting pattern for a Striped Slipstitch Tunic, which goes up to size 26/28.  (Keep in mind that this is German sizing)

Isn't it pretty?   Now, I'm thinking that the slip stitches might make the fabric draw in a bit, so the project will DEFINITELY require a good sized gauge swatch.

In that issue, you'll find the Charlemont Cardigan - fits up to a 57" chest!
